The battery in the cold
- In the cold the battery gives less range — expect noticeably shorter rides than in summer.
- Do not charge a cold battery straight after your shift. Let it warm up to room temperature first.
- Keep the battery indoors, not on a balcony or in a cellar.
- For a full winter shift, a second battery gives peace of mind — especially in the evening.
The bike
- Tyres with better tread and slightly lower pressure for wet and slippery roads.
- Strong front and rear lights — in winter you ride in the dark for most of the shift.
- Clean and lube the chain more often: salt eats it in a few weeks.
- After winter, get a check-up — connectors and bearings suffer most.
You
- Layers instead of one thick jacket: you warm up fast while riding and get cold while waiting.
- Waterproof gloves with touchscreen fingertips — you use your phone all the time.
- A balaclava or buff under the helmet and covers for your shoes.
- A power bank — your phone also drains faster in the cold.
Why winter pays better
People order to their homes more often, and many couriers take a break until spring. In bad weather apps often pay extra per order. Those who ride all year usually earn more steadily.

Common questions
Will a rented bike’s battery last the winter?
Every model in our catalogue lists its riding time on one battery — in winter, expect less. If the battery in our bike starts to weaken, we replace it as part of the rental.
